Privacy For School Counsellors Data
Schools often use free or heavily subsidised cloud platforms, both for capturing and storing data. Whilst secure, these tools don't come with strong privacy guarantees. Between the value of data for trading for advertising, and its value for training LLM's, it is prudent to assume that any data not securely encrypted at source has or will have its privacy compromised.
For average school data, this may be an acceptable trade-off of privacy for the reduced cost and complexity of the tools. For the data collected by school counsellors, relating to mental health, detailed family situations, etc, this is both ethically and legally in a different space.
I am working on this, in my personal capacity, with my school counsellor, and am curious how other schools are handling this. This form, and the platform, are end-to-end encrypted, and no personal or identifying data is captured. So long as you trust your operating system and browser, you are the only person who will know what your answers are.
(Yes, this form is intended to show what is possible!)
Thank you for your time.
